The Lagos State Examinations was established to take full control of the administration and processing of tests for all categories of Examinations under its purview including collation and publication of results there from.
The Examinations Board has the responsibility for the following Examinations.

- Basic Education Certificate Examination (UBECE) fomerly JSCE
- Basic Education Certificate Examination (UBECE) Re-sit
- Lagos State Common Entrance into S.S.S I Classes
- Basic Education Examination by CAS formery Primary School Leaving certificate by CAS
- Public Service Oriented Examinations
- Compulsory Confirmatory / Promotion Examinations for Clerical Officers
- Compulsory Examinations for Administrative and Executive Offices
- External Secretarial Examinations for Typists and Confidential Secretaries
- Labour Trade Test Examination
- Understanding the Computerization of Examinations
- Data / Records and Statistical processing of Raw Score. Co-ordination and Monitoring of Continous Assessment Procedures / Schemes / Committes at State, Local Government Area and School levels for the realisation of Uniform Standards
- Apointment of Award of Committes for the various Examinations conducted but the Board
- Award of Certificates to deserving candidates of precsribed examinations
- Service Oriented Examinations
